First Post and some Nostalgic Ramblings: 9-2-26

Hello and welcome to my website!

Art was something I’ve dabbled in occasionally in my youth, but feel like I really started when I was  seventeen. I met some people on Deviant Art that had characters that interested me and wanting to connect, I made my own*. As I continued to doodle, people started to materialize around me, eager to share their creations and ideas. The friends I made during this time are the reason I stuck to this hobby and I’m so grateful to them for being supportive.

*My creations Fret and Nogard.

I share these guys because it makes me feel good to see how far I’ve come…and Fret’s droopy nose here makes me smile.

No one starts “good” at anything. Art, like most skills in life, takes time and resources to cultivate. Working on Riff Raff Panacea has been so good for my growth. The writing part of it encourages me to reflect on myself, while the drawing process challenges me with art fundamentals that I would otherwise shy away from. Turns out, forcing myself to learn new things while also having a network of peers supporting me is a potent formula for self improvement,

both as an artist and a person.

As of right now, I don’t consider myself “good”, but I do have enough confidence to say I’m “experienced”. I take comfort that in a few years from now, I’ll be able to look back and say “Oh man, that looks awkward.” about my current art the same way I look at these Fret and Nogard drawings now.
